Why convert JPG to ICO?

Sometimes the only logo you have is a JPG, and you need a favicon from it today. Under1MB crops nothing — it scales your JPG down to an icon size and wraps it in an ICO container. Expect soft edges if the source is a photo; a flat graphic works far better as an icon.

ICO export is capped at 256px, ideal for favicons.

Questions

Can a JPG favicon have a transparent background?+

No. JPG has no alpha, so the background comes through as it is. Start from a PNG or SVG if you need transparency.

What size is the icon?+

Up to 256 × 256, which covers every modern browser.

Can I convert several JPG files at once?+

Yes. Drop a whole batch, convert them together and download the results as a single ZIP.

Is there a file size or daily limit?+

No limits and no account. The only real ceiling is your device's memory, since everything runs locally.

What happens to EXIF and GPS data?+

It's removed. Writing a fresh ICO drops camera, date and location metadata, which is usually what you want before sharing.

Does this cost anything?+

No. There is no server bill to pass on, so converting JPG to ICO is free and always will be.
