What's the difference between converting and compressing?+
Converting changes the file type — PNG to WEBP, HEIC to JPG. Compressing keeps the type you already have and only reduces the size.
Will converting lose quality?+
Going to a lossy format like JPG, WEBP or AVIF re-encodes the pixels, so there is some loss — tuned to be invisible at normal viewing size. PNG and BMP outputs are pixel-exact.
Does the converted file keep my EXIF and GPS data?+
No. Re-encoding drops camera and location metadata, which is usually what you want before sharing a photo.
